Blood Pressure

 

This is the strength of blood pushing against the sides of the blood vessels, in relation to how forcefully the heart pumps.  This pressure can be too low (hypotension), causing symptoms such as dizziness, blurred vision, lethargy and fainting.  Equally, but more commonly, the pressure can be too high (hypertension), causing symptoms such as headaches, confusion and volatile reactions.

Hypertension is often undiagnosed as symptoms experienced are not connected to the condition.  This can lead to serious complications such as a stroke or coma.

As part of treatment, the cardiovascular system is assessed and repeated readings are taken, where necessary, to monitor this over time.

The condition of the kidneys also plays a major role here.  Alongside the consultation, urine analysis helps to confirm the changes seen in this organ.
